
Plokkfiskur
Mashed fish and potato with onion and béchamel.

Ingredients
- 700 g White fish fillets
- 700 g Potatoes
- 2 Onion
- 4 tbsp Butter
- 3 tbsp Flour
- 2 cups Milk
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp White pepper
Method
- Poach the fish — Simmer the fish in salted water for 8 minutes, then flake it, discarding any bones.
- Boil potatoes — Cook and roughly mash the potatoes.
- Make the sauce — Soften the onion in butter, stir in the flour, then whisk in the milk to make a thick white sauce.
- Combine — Fold in the fish and potato and warm through, keeping some texture.
- Plokkfiskur is ready — Season well and serve with dark rye bread and butter.
